Exercise And Physical Fitness

Regular exercise is a critical part of staying healthy. People who are active live longer and feel better. Exercise can help you maintain a healthy weight. It can delay or prevent diabetes, some cancers and heart problems.

Most adults need at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity at least five days per week. Examples include walking briskly, mowing the lawn, dancing, swimming for recreation or bicycling.

You’ll learn how to gauge how hard you should exercise and how often. You’ll get tips, strategies, and pointers to help you set goals, stick with your plan and monitor your progress along the way. If you have diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol or have had a stroke.

The Mechanism

The Mechanism: Collaborating disability-based national organizations across the country will link physically fit mentors (who may or may not have a disability) with children who are disabled. The mentors provide training and guidance to help the children become physically active by accumulating minutes of physical activity.
